Acupuncture and Herbs Surpass Antiviral Drug For Shingles

Clinically, we see Shingles Neuralgia (sometimes severe pain that can accompany shingles) typically go from a 10 to a 0-2 on a pain scale immediately.  It is not remarkable to hear a patient declare the pain gone entirely after the first treatment and return only mildly before the second.

Successful Herbs to Move Liver Qi

We often say in Traditional Chinese Medicine that the liver is the system most easily susceptible to stress. Stress knots the Qi (energy) and makes its flow stagnate – this happens most quickly in the liver energy system. The liver, in TCM, is in charge of the smooth flow of Qi throughout the body. This means that if Qi flow is impaired (ie, by stress), the liver system will suffer. Likewise, if the liver energy system is weak or stagnant (from lifestyle choices, diet, trauma, emotional stress, illness or genetic factors), Qi flow throughout the body may be impaired. continue reading »

12 Rx for a Healthy Immune System

Yu Ping Feng San or Jade Windscreen is the true General Preventive formula (but, a good customized formula for your particular immune system is best & check with both an Acupuncture Physician & your Primary Care Doctor – if they are different – prior to taking any new Rx herbal or Western medication).

Whole Food Multi-Vitamins that include Zinc, B12 (shots a good idea), B complex, C, Vitamins D & A

Essential oils — drops under nose (Rosemary, Oregano, Lavender, Frankincense) throughout the day and in diffuser at home.  These are powerful Anti-Viral substances – like Chinese herbs, & most of the research is just not studied in U.S. Western Med schools – they study, laboratory-made & patented drugs (often life-saving, too!)

GARGLE 3x/day with a few drops of food grade essential oils in water (or gargle with simple Salt Water).

Cut out alcohol/sugar altogether (at least until your immune system is at its peak).

Cut out Dairy, Wheat, Fried Foods (these are dampening/immune strength depleting foods) and eat whole and unprocessed

Exercise / walk  and stretch

Deep Breathing / alternate nostril breathing for healthy lungs  (this one makes the next one EZ 😊)

Meditate on Gratitude – Studies show that the better your mood, the better your immune system is functioning!

Acupuncture (of course!  Can’t help it, it’s true!):  Studies show that weekly to monthly acupuncture, from its maintaining proper intestinal mucosa, to stimulating T Cell production, to natural anti-inflammatory effects, can raise and maintain just about anyone’s immune system at a healthier level.  Infrared lamps, sauna (check with doctor first) & massage are good adjuncts.

Immune Boosting Foods:  Google this one as the list is long, but, they all start with garlic, ginger, berries, prebiotics (like chicory & artichokes, onion, leeks and/or just get in and with your Prebiotics – Renew Life makes a good Pre and Pro-biotic

Intermittent Fasting – Eat for 10 hours/fast for 14.  So, for example, one fasts from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 a.m. each morning or 7 p.m. ‘til 9 a.m.  The body goes into “Autophagy” where it jumps into high gear cleaning out old and damaged cells enabling it to regenerate new, healthy cells much faster!

*If you can only manage ONE of these – put the anti-viral/anti-bacterial essential oils under your nose throughout the day to keep the sinus cavity as a strong 1st line of defense – & gargle with them daily in H2O.

Food Color and Nutrition

In Chinese medical theory, food is considered medicine. Food has qualities and functions biochemically and energetically that target specific organs. Not only that, but the action a particular food takes to benefit that organ in terms of taste, color and temperature is what is included in Five Element theory. Food has a relationship to both the natural elements as well as the organs in the body and balances the elements of fire, earth, metal, water and wood to healthy, generating cycles. continue reading »
